Federal Health Minister Nicola Roxson is courting controversy by floating the concept of a "smokers' permit" for Australians still indulging in the habit.
It's a far cry from the 'old days' when a cigarette was the topper at the end of a hard day - or in the case of the Flintstones's Fred and Barney watching Wilma and Betty hard at work:
The poster of this piece says: "I remember seeing this when I was a kid...but it is very hard to imagine cigarette ads now -- ESPECIALLY on a cartoon show!"
But fails to remember that the Flinstones was the 1960s equivalent of The Simpsons -a prime time show with a decidedly adult flavour.
Enjoy this vintage ad while before it earns an 'R' rating...
One assumes that Fred and Barney aren't having a "gay old time" either.
How times change.
