It's not easy being a reporter, but in the case of Ben Davis, it became an occupational hazard.

In the middle of delivering a report on the Broncos versus Storm rugby league game, Davis was crash tackled and assaulted.

Seven newsreader Pat Welsh took over the bulletin. "We saw him being teased in the first piece, then in the second piece the guy came up and tried to stick his tongue in his ear, then in the third he was tackled; so we decided not to go back to him for the fourth piece," he said.

While it might be amusing to see journalists struggle against outside interference while delivering a live report, seeing them bashed on air by a couple of drunken louts is not.
